¿Por qué los Hijos de Dios caemos en estos bajones de tristeza?

No voy a inmiscuirme en terrenos de la psicología cristiana, no es mi campo. Simplemente hablaré de lo que sí me incumbe y es la Palabra de Dios. Para eso, voy a rescatar algunas ventajas que tienen los cristianos a la hora de superar el menosprecio. Muchos están afligidos por un sentimiento de rechazo hacia si mismos, de aversión; se creen poca cosa, casi inútiles. Esto es una mentira diabólica. Todos somos importantes delante de los ojos de Dios.

Cuando estamos sufriendo, a veces olvidamos que Dios nos ha dado carismas y talentos. Son herramientas eficaces que nos ayudan a vivir en este mundo de aflicciones. Sin embargo, no siempre bajo el ardor del sufrimiento, nos acordamos de lo capaces que podemos llegar a ser, cuando estamos bajo presión. Suele ocurrir que las incordias del gran desilusionador nos cala tan profundamente, que un buen día nos sentimos los más grandes inservibles de toda la historia de la humanidad.

Yo mismo, confieso sin tapujos, los he padecido y cada tanto padezco Es una lucha que está en nuestra mente. Por un lado, la acusación de que “nada somos” y por la otra, la certeza que tenemos todas las primicias. En realidad, sin Cristo “nada seríamos” pero como cristianos habiendo aceptado a Jesús como Señor y Salvador, tenemos asegurado un futuro promisorio y si bien el presente puede resultar complicado por múltiples padecimientos, confiemos que no siempre habremos de estar penando.

¿Recuerdas la canción Bienaventurados de Serrat?

En una estrofa dice: “Bienaventurados los que están en el fondo del pozo porque de ahí en adelante sólo cabe ir mejorando”. Si el mundo se consuela con sabiduría a los que están tristes y se menosprecian a sí mismos o están afligidos por crisis de todo tipo ¿cuánto más nos consolará nuestro Padre en momentos trágicos?

Recordemos que Dios nos dio vida cuando estábamos muertos en delitos y pecados (Efesios 2:1). De modo que, si nos rescato de nuestra vana manera de vivir, seguramente no lo hizo para tenernos sentados en el banco más, que durante el servicio. Si vós sos unas de esas personas que experimenta la ardiente necesidad de hacer algo, entonces ora y no te detengas. Otros en cambio, se conforman con ser oyentes y algunos, desarrollan gran maestría para oír y nada más. Yo fui uno de esos. Oía y muy bien. Tanto, que cuando me ofrecieron trabajar para el Señor respondí:- Estoy muy cómodo así. No me quiero comprometer. No me gustan los problemas.

Lo que no imagine es que, por esta respuesta mía, me perdí años de obras y bendiciones. Ah, si pudiera volver atrás en el tiempo, a esa tarde cuando el pastor Morán –un misionero norteamericano- me preguntó si quería servir. Le diría luego de lo que he vivido, un rotundo:-¡Sí! Quiero. Pero lamentablemente, viajar en el tiempo no es posible. No vivimos en la sociedad de Star Trek, sino en un mundo donde el ser humano en su gran mayoría, vive de espaldas a Dios en un complicado presente. El tiempo que perdí en tonteras, Dios me lo habrá de reclamar a futuro. No tengo excusas.

Pero cuidado: trabajar para Dios es una gran responsabilidad. Antes de entrar a saco en lo que piensas que es tu trabajo, considera que es un esfuerzo de largo aliento. No es una faena de los que conseguimos en el mundo por horas. Se trata de un empleo para toda la vida que habrá, muchas veces, ponerte a prueba pero Dios, repito, es buen pagador. Verás como te ayuda y socorre cuanto más lo necesites.

Una sugerencia

Antes de comenzar, no saltes por encima de las autoridades de la iglesia. Ve y habla con ellos; con los responsables; y si aún luego de hablar sobre tus ganas de obrar, no te entregan nada para hacer, comienza a considerar que Dios te esta necesitando en otra parte. A veces sucede que pensamos que estamos en la iglesia correcta para desarrollar nuestras tareas pero Dios te dice que marches a otra parte. Todo lo que hagas, antes ora y ayuna, porque sin Dios, no habrás de tener ninguna guía. Andamos por fe, es verdad, pero fe en Dios no en nuestros propios pensamientos y esfuerzos. Consideremos ahora las herramientas para nuestra tarea.

¿Qué es carisma y que talento?

Carisma es la transliteración del griego kjaris. Su equivalente en plural kjarismata. Traducido al castellano significa don, regalo, gracia, favor, poder, oficio, misión. En síntesis, el don es un regalo de Dios, como una gracia especial que se te entrega para realizar con eficacia alguna obra o misión.  Talento es la inteligencia que Dios aviva en tu mente, para efectuar el trabajo que se te encomienda.

Diferencias entre don y talento

Los dones están en íntima relación con el ministerio de la Iglesia. El talento es la inteligencia con que desarrollarás el don. Dado que existen multitud de tareas dentro del Cuerpo de Cristo, la inteligencia entendida como pensamiento ágil para resolver problemas, nunca debe faltar en los cristianos. De modo que Dios proporciona dones y talentos según su voluntad entre todos nosotros.

Origen de los dones

Provienen de Dios según las Escrituras: “Toda buena dádiva y todo don perfecto, desciende de lo alto, del Padre de las luces” (Santiago 1:17). Han sido otorgados a los fieles por medio de Cristo y distribuidos en cada uno de nosotros mediante el Espíritu Santo. (Efesios 4:7,8; 1 Corintios 12:7-13).

Un detalle

Los dones que Dios entrega para trabajar en la iglesia, solo a sus Hijos los proporciona. Las habilidades de cada una de las personas dentro de la Iglesia Dios las da según su voluntad y conforme a la necesidad del momento. Ahora esto no significa que no todos sean inteligentes. Talentos tenemos todos, pero algunos desarrollan mejor que otros sus habilidades para tareas específicas. Algunos son buenos maestros, otros predicadores, no pocos resaltan en maestranza y muchas tareas más.

Deja de pensar que no vales nada

Esas son mentiras del diablo, enemigo de la verdad. Que los padecimientos en este mundo no te ahoguen la convicción que Dios  puede darte el trabajo idóneo que anhelas. No te voy a contar aquí mi historia personal en detalles, pero créeme  que si te digo que he vivido muy mal, es verdad. Y todo, por desobedecer. ¿Quieres trabajar para Dios? Obedécelo en todo y te llegara empleo. En este mundo, tendremos aflicciones, pero son pasajeras, temporarias.

Acepta 

Como favor para tu alma, que el dolor que tienes Dios no lo permitirá para siempre; estará a tu lado aún, cuando tu mente te diga todo lo contrario. Admite también, que Cristo jamás nos mintió. El mismo nos dijo que en este mundo tendríamos aflicciones y muchos hermanos, hasta padecen prisión por causa del Señor y en esto, tampoco fuimos sin advertencia. Podemos ser muertos en el transcurso de nuestro trabajo e incluso, perder parte de nuestra familia.

Imagina que viene profeta de parte del Señor y te dice: “No temas en nada lo que vas a padecer. He aquí el diablo echará a algunos de ustedes a la cárcel para ser probados, y tendrán tribulación diez días. Se fiel HASTA LA MUERTE; y yo te daré la corona de la vida” (Apocalipsis 2:10) ¿Qué harías? Si mañana alguien me aparece y me dice algo semejante quedaría pasmado. No sabría que decir. Primero, Dios ordena no temer; segundo, que habrá encarcelamiento con tribulación o sea, sufrimientos de todo tipo, que incluso, te pueden costar la vida. Este pasaje ilustra clarísimo el desconcierto que nos provoca darnos cuenta que estamos en pruebas cuyo origen no logramos entrever, donde la cerrazón de maldad que nos rodea nos impide ver salidas.

Cuando a mi me toco vivir algo semejante, no tuve otra opción que arrodillarme, humillarme y decir: “Señor, hasta ahora viví pidiendo lo  que yo consideré me era conveniente y pensando que era lo mejor para mi. Pero, como todo eso no bastó y acá continúo entre dolores que me están matando, he concluido que lo que yo pido no esta en sintonía con tu voluntad. Por lo tanto, toma mi vida y mi mano y guíame adónde sea que tú quieras que yo vaya”. En ese momento, me rendí completamente. Y la luz reapareció. Pero esto es historia para otro post.

Y como este ejemplo, hay miles más

Entonces, si te sientes poco utilizado por Dios para la obra ¿qué tal si nos arrodillamos y oramos al Padre por nuestro puesto en la obra? Seguro que algo tendrá para darnos. El tiene millones de empleados y es buen pagador. Pero recuerda: si pides algo, pide con fe. Si dudas, entonces no recibes nada porque Dios seguramente te abrirá una o más puertas pero el resto del “laburo” (trabajo) es por tu cuanta  y para eso vás a necesitar fe de tu parte.

Siempre he admirado a los que trabajan con sus manos. Artesanos y constructores despiertan mi respeto. Hace tiempo conocí un descendiente de sirios libaneses, constructor, cuya habilidad para resolver problemas a la hora de reparar casas me dejó asombrado. Parece que él estaba conciente de su inteligencia porque, en la camioneta que utilizaba para transportar herramientas, había escrito un cartel que decía “Soluciono todos los problemas de su hogar por difícil que sean. Solo tenga dinero a mano”. Trabajó en mi casa reparando detalles que imaginé irreparables y al observarlo pensar y atarearse, sentí gran respeto por este hombre. Si un hombre del mundo que no tiene temor de Dios se desempeña así ¿acaso no habrás de trabajar mejor que él si te esmeras asistido por el Espíritu Santo? Oremos:

“Padre Celestial, en nombre de Jesús, vengo hoy en oración a tu presencia, a pedirte perdón por mis pecados. Reconozco que estoy entristecido porque me creo nada en tu obra. A veces pienso que tú no me amas lo suficiente porque nadie me da tareas para hacer y me siento inútil o bien, desperdiciado. Reconozco que he vivido como he querido. Ahora quiero hacerlo como tu dices que debo vivir. Me rindo delante de tu presencia y me entrego como niño que se ha perdido y no sabe donde ir. 

Te suplico en Cristo que abras mentes y corazones para que me sea dado trabajo para ti y cuando la obra me alcance, te pido valor y talento para realizarla. Solo tengo en mente y en mi corazón, pensamientos y deseos de trabajar para ti Señor Jesús. Ayúdame a superar el desánimo y el menos precio que siento hacia mi persona, ayúdame a recuperar respeto por mí mismo, fortalece mi auto estima a partir de mi humillación delante de tus ojos, hazme sentir el gozo de ser hijo tuyo sin nada de que avergonzarme, dame una oportunidad más para trabajar en tu obra; Señor, te prometo obedecerte y ser leal hasta el fin. 

Gracias Padre Nuestro, porque has escuchado mi petición y a su tiempo, llegará respuesta. Entre tanto, que el Espíritu Santo me vaya mostrando lo bueno para resaltar en mí y lo malo para quitar, a fin de ser transformado en un obrero digno para tu honra, Señor nuestro Dios. Amen”.

Why God’s children fall in the blues?

I am not going to interfere into Christian psychology field, it is not my business. Simply I will talk about what I know and It is the Word of God. For this, I’m going to rescue some advantages that the Christian have in overcoming the scorn.  A lot of them are distraught by any feeling of rejection toward themselves, aversion; they feel no worthy, almost useless. This is a devilish lie. We  are all  important before God’s eyes.  

When we are suffering, sometimes we forget that God has given us charisma and talent. They are effective tools that help us to live in this world of sorrow. Nevertheless, not always under the suffering zeal, we recall how able we can be, when we are under pressure.  Often happens that the nuisances of the big disappointing leave a mark on us so deep, that one fine day we feel us the biggest useless in the whole world history  of the human race.

Myself, I confess without beating about the bush, I had suffered and every so often I suffer, it is a fight that it is in our mind. On one hand, the accusation about “we are nothing” and by the other hand, the certainty that we have all the first notice. In fact, without Christ “ we will be nothing” but as Christians having accepted to Jesus as Lord and Saviour, we have assure a promising future and although the present can be complicated by several suffering, we trust that not always we will be in suffering.
 

Do you remember the song Blessed by Serrat?

In one verse it says: “ Blessed who is in the bottom of the well, because from now on just getting better”. If the world is comfort with wisdom to the person who is sad and underestimate to themselves or the distraught people by crisis of any kind, you have to  think that our Lord can comforts more in this tragic moment?

We just need to recall that God give us life when we were dead in felonies and sins (Ephesians 2:1). So that, if he rescues us from our vain lifestyle, surely He didn’t do it to have us sitting in the bench more than during the service. If you are one of those persons that experiment the fervent necessity to do something, so pray and you do not stop. Others on the other hand, get comfort to be listener and some others develop big skill to listen and no more.  I was one of them, I listened and so good. So, that when I received an offer to work to the Lord I answered: I am so comfortable here, so I don’t want to get involve. I don’t like problems.

What I did not infer, for that answer, I lost years of work and blessing. Oh! If I could come back the time, to that afternoon when the Pastor Moran – a North American missionary – he asked me if I want to serve. I will say after all that I had lived, an emphatic :- Yes! I want. But unfortunately, to trip in the time it is not possible. We don’t live in Star Trek society, but in a world where the human being in its majority, turns away from God in a complicated present. The time that I lost messing around, God will claim me in the future. I don’t have excuses.

But be careful : To work for God is a big responsibility. Before to go straight for it about what you think that is your work, you have to consider that it is an effort of long encouragement. It is not a work as the one that we get in the world by hours. This is about a job for the whole life, many times, he will put you in test but God, I will say again he is a good paymaster.  You will see how He helps you and aid you when you need the most.

One suggestion

Before to start, don’t jump above the church’s authorities. Go and talk to them; with the people in charge; and if after you talk to them about your desire to work, they don’t give you anything to do, you have to consider that God needs you in another place. Sometimes it happens that we think that we are in the right church to develop our work but God tells you to go to another place. All that you have to do is pray and fast, because without God, you won’t have any guide. We walk by faith, it is true, but faith in God not in our own thoughts and effort. Now, we consider the tools for our work.

What is charisma and talent?

Charisma is the transliteration from the Greek Kjaris. Its equivalent in plural kjarismata. Translate to Spanish means gift, grace, favor, power, service, mission. In summary, the gift is a present from God, it’s like a special grace that it is given to you to accomplish with effectiveness some work or mission. Talent is the intelligence that God stir up in your mind, to develop the work that is entrust to you.

Differences between gift and talent

The gifts are in a close relationship with the ministry of the church. The talent is the intelligence with help you to develop the gift. Since there is a lot of work in the Ministry of Jesus Christ, the intelligence it is understood as an agile thought to figure out problems, it never has to miss in the Christians. So that God give us gift and talent according his will among of us.

Gift origin

Come from God according the scriptures: “Every good gift and every perfect gift is from above, and cometh down from the Father of lights, with whom is no variableness, neither shadow of turning. (James 1:17) . They had been granted to the faithful through Christ and distribute in one of us through the Holy Spirit. ( Ephesians 4: 7,8; 1a. Corinthians 12:7-13).

One detail

The gifts that God gives to work at the church, it is only provided to his children. The abilities of each person in the church God gave them according his will and according to the necessity of the moment. Now it doesn’t mean that not everybody is intelligent. All of us have talent, but some develops much better than other in their abilities to specific work. Someone is good as a teacher, other as a preacher, not few stands out in armoury and some other work more.   

Leave off thinking that you are not worthy

These are evil lies, enemy of the true. That the sufferings in this world do not drown you the conviction that God can give you the ideal work that you yearn. I won’t tell you my personal history in details, but believe me when I said that I had lived very bad, is true. And everything, because I was disobedient. Do you want to work for God? Be obedient in everything and you will receive job. In this world, we have affliction, but they are temporary.

Accept

As a favor for your soul, that the sorrow that you have God won’t allow it forever; He will be by your side even when your mind said all the contrary. Also you have to admit, that Christ never lie to us. Himself tell us that in this world we will have afflictions and many brothers, they even suffer prison for the sake of the Lord and in this issue we were without warning either. We can be dead in the course of our work and even lost part of our family.

Imagine that a profet comes on behalf of the Lord and tell you: “Fear none of those things which thou shalt suffer: behold, the devil shall cast some of you into prison, that ye may be tried; and ye shall have tribulation ten days: be thou faithful unto death, and I will give thee a crown of life”. (Revelation 2:10). What would you do? If tomorrow somebody shows up and tells me something similar I would stay stunned. I don’t know what to say. First of all, God commands do not afraid; Second, that it will be incarcerating with tribulation, or rather, of all type, that including, it can cost you the life. This passage uplift so clear the bewilderment that cause us realize that we are in test which origin we can’t see, where the dimwittedness of meanness that it is around us, it impede us to see the exit.

When I have to leave something similar, I don’t have another option that get down on my knees, humiliate me and say: “ Lord, till today I lived asking what I considered it was the best for me and I was thinking it was the most convenient for me. But, as all this it wasn’t enough and I am here among sorrows that are killing me, I had concluded that what I asked it is not in harmony with your will. Therefore, take my life and my hand and guide me where you want me to go”. In that moment, I surrendered completely . And the light reappears. But this is history for another post. 

As this example, there are thousand.

So, if you feel not used by God for the work, What about if we get down on our knees and pray to the Father for our position in the work? For sure he will have something to give us. He has millions of employees and He is a good paymaster. But remember: If you ask something, does it with faith. If you doubt, so you don’t receive anything because God will open you doors for sure but the rest of the job it is on your own and you will need faith from your side.

I always had admired the people who work with his hand. Artisan and builders awaken my respect. Long time ago I met one descendent from Syrian Lebanese, builder, which ability to figure out problems when it comes time to repair houses it left me astonish. It looks like he was aware of his intelligence because, in the truck that he drove to move his tools, it was a sign which said “I resolve all the problems at your home, doesn’t matter if they are difficult. Only just have money in hand”. He worked in my house repairing details that I imagine unrepairable and when I observed at him thinking and busy, I felt a big respect for this men. If just one man that does not has fear to God is performing like that. Are you then to work much better than him if you go to a lot of effort helped by the Holy Spirit? Let’s pray:

“ Lord Father, in Jesus name, I come today in pray at your presence, forgive my sins. I recognize that I am grieved because I believe that I am nothing in your work. Sometimes I think that you don’t love me enough because nobody gives me work to do and I feel useless or waste. I recognize that I had lived as the way I wanted it. Now I want to do it as you say that I have to live. I surrender before your presence and I turn in like a child that is lost and don’t know where to go.
 
I beg you in Christ that you open minds and hearts to receive work for you and when the work reaches me, I ask you strength and talent to carry out. I just have in my mind and heart, thoughts and wish to work for you Lord.  Help me to overcome the discourage and the undervalue that I feel toward to me, help me to recover the respect by myself, strength my self confidence starting from my humiliation before your eyes, make me feel the joy of being your child without anything embarrassed me, give me one more try to work for you; Lord, I promise to you to be obedient and be faithful till the end.

Thank you Lord, because you have listened my requesting and at its time, the answer will arrive. Meanwhile that the Holy Spirit shows me the good to emphasize in me and the bad to take it away from me, in order to be transformed in a deserving worker for your honor, Lord our God. Amen".
